    Well done to the lads who represented us well in the Connaughts. We did well but unfortunately didn't qualify for the All Irelands. We wish Ballina the best of luck in the finals.

  • 1916 Celebrations in Croke Park & visit to Baldonnel

    Cael & Ewan represented Youthreach Sligo at the 1916 centenary celebrations in Croke Park on Monday last. You both represented Youthreach Sligo with pride and we were honoured to call you both our students. We look forward to March 15th when we raise the Irish flag in the centre and read the proclamation.

    Later that afternoon we enjoyed a tour of the Air Corps Casement Aerodrome in Baldonnel. On behalf of Youthreach Sligo we would like to thank Keith our tour guide for giving us an excellent tour and also to Dan Fitzpatrick for organising the tour. We hope to be back in the future..!   • Mountjoy & Kilmainham Visit

    Students and Staff recently visited Mountjoy Prison. We were given a very informative tour. We would like to thank the prison officers for taking time out of there busy schedule to facilitate us. Later that afternoon we visited Kilmainham Gaol, This was a very worthwhile experience for both staff and students. A great day was had by all!

    Youthreach Sligo recently got involved with Cranmore Age friendly Committee and Chemco Pharmacy to help host a coffee morning. This was a relaxed event and gave all ages a chance to chat in a friendly environment over a cup of tea. We are delighted to have been invited to take part.

  • Busy times

    Its been a busy time since Christmas in Youthreach.

    One of our students as part of her Contemporary Issues task organised for people to knit blankets for Feileacain who provide memory boxes for parents of still born babies.

    Another student organised a football match against a team from our local refugee centre it was part of a Racism project.

    Bhí muid gnothach ar Lá Féile Bríde. Bhí a lán crosa éagsula againn.

     

    All that and our students had their LCA task interviews this week. Roll on the next month.

     

    One of our groups went to the Hawks Well Theatre to see Of Mice and Men, a book they have been reading an excellent production that was thoroughly enjoyed.

    The music class in Youthreach treated us to Christmas carols on Monday afternoon under the baton of our music teacher Karl. A joyous sing along was heard far and wide!!!

     

    Today the students were treated to Christmas dinner in the centre. Some of the students were on the kitchen team and did a fantastic job preparing and serving the meal.

  • Titanic Trip

    Students of the Junior cert who are studying the Titanic recently went on a trip to Belfast to the titanic Museum. It was a long journey but a very worthwhile trip and thoroughly enjoyed by all

  • Pool Competition

    Shane, one of our LCA year 1 students, organised a pool competition as his General Education Task. He had 16 competitors with a winner take all prize so the tension was fierce. The winners in the tournament will go on to represent the centre in the upcoming tournament in Kiltimagh Youthreach.

    Students recently attended the Sligo Comharle na nOg AGM in the Radisson Hotel. Congratulations to Shane McDonagh & Ross Mills who were elected to the Youth Council. To finish off the day Students and Staff enjoyed some laughter yoga..! Well Done to all involved.
